Candle Care

In the last several months I have experimented with hundreds of different types of waxes, wicks and fragrances, yet it is imperative that one follow these simple, but imperative tasks when lighting any candle.

  • Burn candle within sight. Keep away from drafts and vibrations. Keep out of reach of small children and pets. Never burn candle on or near anything that can catch fire.
  • Trim wick to 1/4 inch before lighting. Repeat: Each and every time you light a candle, trim the wick! This is the less obvious, yet most critical regarding candle safety. Keep candle free of any foreign materials including matches and wick trimmings. Only burn candle on a level, fire-resistant surface. Do not burn candle for more than four hours at a time or let it burn all the way down. For margin of safety, discontinue burning when 2 inches of wax remain (jar) or half wax (tin).
  • To prevent uneven burning and that annoying “well” down the center, light the candle and burn it at least long enough for a pool of wax to form across the entire surface before extinguishing. This guarantees a smooth burn and long life for candle
